Director of Parks and Recreation

The Municipality of Kingston is accepting applications/resumes for the position of Director of Parks and Recreation. This is a Full-Time Exempt position.

The Director of Parks and Recreation is responsible for the daily operation and administration of the Kingston Recreation Center, the seasonal operation and administration of the Kingston Community Pool, overseeing and coordinating the planning and development of seven outdoor public parks, establishing and maintaining working relationships with various community and regional athletic organizations, investigating and pursuing viable park and recreation grant opportunities, and coordinating the organization, implementation, operation, and evaluation of all recreation programs, facilities, and activities.

The Director of Parks and Recreation works closely with the Department of Public Works to ensure the proper maintenance of all public park and recreation facilities. The position directly supervises employees assigned to the Parks and Recreation Department, part-time and seasonal employees, summer camp staff, and Kingston Community Pool staff. Candidates must be able to work nights and weekends.

It is preferred but not necessary that candidates hold a degree in Parks and Recreation or a related field. It is preferred but not necessary that candidates have 5 years of professional experience in parks and recreation management and knowledge of local government administration. Candidates must be proficient in computer programs and applications such as Microsoft Office, Rec Desk, and various social media platforms. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and all necessary clearances.

The starting salary will be based on qualifications and experience. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package. Applications/resumes will be accepted until May 12, 2021. Department of Public Works Laborer

The Municipality of Kingston is seeking applicants for the positions of Part-Time and Full-Time DPW Laborers. DPW Laborer responsibilities include but are not limited to sanitation and recycling collection, public facilities and parks maintenance, public infrastructure maintenance and repair, street maintenance and paving, snow plowing, and all other assignments as issued by the Supervisor. Applicants must have the ability to routinely lift moderate to heavy weight, sit, stand, and bend for extended periods of time, and work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time.  All applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of Laborer and possess a valid Pennsylvania Operators License.

Full-Time applicants must also agree to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License per the collective bargaining agreement as a conditional offer of employment. The starting rate for Part-Time Laborer is $17.00 per hour. Full-Time appointments are subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Kingston Community Pool

The Municipality of Kingston is accepting applications for seasonal employment at the Kingston Community Pool. The Kingston Community Pool is scheduled to open on June 5 and close on August 15. Applications are being accepted for the positions of Lifeguard, Snack Bar, and Maintenance.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and obtain Act 34 and 151 clearances. Lifeguards must possess all essential certifications. Quality of Life Enforcement Officer

The Municipality of Kingston is seeking applications for the part-time position of Quality of Life Enforcement Officer. Compensation for the position is at least $20 per hour depending on qualifications.

Duties include but are not limited to the administration and enforcement of the Municipality’s Property Maintenance and Quality of Life Codes. Knowledge of standard software applications including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the use of specialized software such as the Municipality’s Codes and Services Program is preferred.
