FIREWORKS NOTICE
The Kingston Municipal Police Department would like to educate and remind residents and visitors of the municipal ordinance and state law on igniting or discharging consumer fireworks.
The Kingston Municipal ordinance states, “No permission is granted by the Municipality of Kingston to any person to ignite or discharge consumer fireworks on the streets, the sidewalks, or any property; including parks or buildings, or any other public areas.
The Pennsylvania State law states, “fireworks cannot be ignited or discharged on a public or private property without express permission of the property owner, they cannot be discharged from or within a motor vehicle or building, they cannot be discharged toward a motor vehicle or building, they cannot be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure, whether or not a person is actually present, they cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug.”
With the above Kingston Municipal Ordinance and Pennsylvania State Law, there are no locations within the Borough of Kingston where fireworks can legally be ignited or discharged.
This also includes Pringle Borough, as Pringle is covered by the Kingston Municipal Police Department.
Any person who shall violate any provisions of the chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 and costs of prosecution of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
