Free Appliance Pick up 2023

Kingston’s annual free appliance pickup will take place on Thursday, May 25th for all residents living east of Wyoming Avenue and on Friday, May 26th for all residents living west of Wyoming Avenue. Guidelines are available at the Kingston Municipal Building and online at www.kingstonpa.orgKingston recycles the materials collected through the free appliance pickup program.

Special Announcements for 2023

Kingston Pool: The coolest spot in town opens for the season on June 10th. As a way of thanking our loyal members and residents, we are pleased to announce that the Kingston Community Pool will open, weather permitting, on Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29 between the hours of 1pm and 7pm! The special early opening is for Kington members and residents only! Pool membership credentials or photo identification for proof of residency is required for entry.

Residential Family rates remain at $235 for the entire season and the Individual rate remains at $160! We are pleased to announce Individual discounted rates for senior citizens and those who are actively serving in the military for the 2023 season! As a special promotion for 2023, we are offering a 5% discount on all seasonal memberships if purchased by May 31 (no exceptions after May 31). Beat the long lines and save money by purchasing your seasonal membership early!

We also recommend that you download and complete a copy of the required waiver prior to first visiting the pool. This will reduce lines and expedite entry to the pool. The required waiver is available at www.kingstonpa.org and the Kingston Recreation Center. 2023 Pringle Street Paving Project: The Municipality received a $606,000.00 grant through the Luzerne County Office of Community Development for paving and ADA improvements along the entire length of Pringle Street. Paving will begin during the week of May 29, 2023. The Municipality also applied for a grant to pave Brook Avenue between Pringle Street and Division Street to extend upon improvements in this area of the community. We are hopeful to receive the funds and pave Brook Avenue by the fall of 2023!

Yard Waste Drop-OffThe hours for residential yard waste drop-off are 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The daily drop-off program will continue through Labor Day. Residents must show their driver’s license for proof of residency. If the gate is locked, please see the attendant in the garage. Under no circumstances will any landscapers or private contractors be permitted to drop-off yard waste.

Holiday CollectionsPlease refer to the boxes shaded in blue on the 2023 Recycling Calendar for changes in holiday garbage and recycling collections. For example, the Memorial Day pickup for residents living in Zones #1 and 2A will take place on Friday, May 26.

Landscaping MaterialsMulch and compost are available at our DPW Facility for a minimal fee. Please call (570) 287-1997 for more details.

Seasonal Ordinances

For the continued beautification of our community, we kindly remind all residents of the following regulations:

  • YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR DOG WASTE! Citizens are also required to carry an instrument for removing dog waste at all times when walking their dogs. Please call our Code Enforcement Office at 288-4576 ext. 115 to report violators. Citations will be issued to violators.
  • Dogs must be leashed. Dogs are not permitted on any playing fields or tennis courts. Street sweeping regulations are strictly enforced. Remember, the fine is progressive; $5 for the first offense, $10 for the second offense, and $50 for the third offense. Thank you for keeping our neighborhoods clean!
  • Grass or weeds cannot exceed 6 inches. DO NOT BLOW GRASS OR LEAVES ONTO THE STREET OR INTO STORM DRAINS. Please call our Code Enforcement Office at (570) 288-4576 ext. 115 to report violators. Quality of Life tickets will be issued to violators.
  • The Municipality adopted a Quality-of-Life Ordinance for the purpose of efficiently fining nuisance violations of the Municipal and Property Maintenance Codes. The Quality-of-Life fining method is exactly the same as that of a parking ticket.
  • During the warm weather months, residents are asked to refrain from placing garbage on the tree lawns any sooner than the eve of your scheduled pickup.
  • A permit is required for landlords to rent property in Kingston. The permit application and guidelines are available at www.kingstonpa.org. Citations will be issued to violators.
  • All homes must be inspected prior to the conveyance of the real estate. No occupancy permit will be issued to any new home owner unless there is a pre-conveyance inspection.   • No structure, regardless of any zoned area in Kingston, may be modified into additional units. A single-family home cannot be converted into multi-unit housing. A two-unit double block cannot me modified into units greater than two. A pre existing multi-unit structure cannot be modified into more units. Please call (570) 288-4576 ext. 115 for details.
